Intensive CACDP Level One Course for Businesses and Organisations

Are you keen to promote a positive and caring image for your organisation? 1:7 people in the UK are deaf or hard of hearing and many use British Sign Language as a preferred means of communication. This is potentially a significant portion of your client base.

The Course

Sign for workWe can offer an Intensive Level One course in British Sign Language leading to a nationally recognised, CACDP qualification. BSL level 1 is usually taught over a year for two hours a week but we have found that the intensive format often leads to exceptional results and gives a bigger sense of achievement to those involved.

The course is taught over 50 - 60 hours and can be taught in blocks, weekly days, half days or alternative arrangements can be tailored to suit your requirements.

The course is for a maximum of 14 students. Typically the tuition will take place at your premises. If this is not suitable then we can book a venue for you.

Unit 101 - Introduction to BSL:
- Fingerspelling
- Numbers, dates and time
- Exchanging personal information
- Weather
- Transport and directions

Unit 102 - Conversational BSL:
-
Describing people, animals and objects
- Interests and Activities

Unit 103 - BSL at Work:
- Exchanging information about work/college
- Refreshments

Each unit will be assessed. The assessments involve a conversation with the tutor that will be videoed with the tape then being sent off to CACDP for marking/validation. These will take place during the course.

If all three assessments are passed then the candidate will receive the Level 1 Certificate in BSL. If someone is unsuccessful in passing one of the units, they can will be able to take the unit again at a later date.

Price

The course will cost £1760 plus tutors' travel expenses and assessment fees (£46/person). The cost of the course will include the provision of comprehensive handouts to students. No VAT is charged.
