We work together to help you remove obstacles, change negative self beliefs, resolve phobias, alleviate depression and diminish anxieties so that you can imagine and create a preferred and more positive future.

I focus on helping clients overcome obstacles and challenges that are holding them back, such as irrational fears, mental health issues and addictions, including generalised and social anxiety, stress, low mood, depression, OCD, negative habits, and irrational fears.

Self-limiting beliefs such as ‘I am not good enough’, ruminating, obsessive thinking, unwanted behaviours or habits, grief, regret or other unhelpful patterns of thinking can also be changed through Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

This isn’t a passive process. If you choose Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, your desire to change, your commitment to the process and your active participation in the Solution Focused conversations are likely to lead to more rapid process and the outcomes you want.

My training is underpinned by neuroscience. In your first consultation, I explain how the brain works, how anxiety, depression, phobias, fears and OCD are created. We then explore where you want to be and how I might help you.

SOLUTION FOCUSED Hypnotherapy

Many people who have seen stage hypnotists, imagine they will be made to bark like a dog, or quack like a duck.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

As a trained Solution Focused Hypnotherapist, I can induce a deeply relaxed and receptive state to enable you to access your subconscious.

You are always in control and can bring yourself out of this relaxed state at any time. This state is like the trance you fall in to while driving, watching a great film or walking in the countryside. There’s no magic or trickery. It is a natural, deeply restorative state.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Hypnotherapy help to rewire the brain, removing thinking patterns that are no longer helpful and replacing them with new more helpful ways of processing and experiencing the world, and embedding more helpful and constructive beliefs.

SOLUTION FOCUSED COACHING AND BRIEF THERAPY

Solution Focused Brief Therapy or SFBT was developed in the 1970s by therapists who noticed that traditional psychotherapy was not always successful. Identifying the root of problems, and analysing them, didn’t necessarily resolve them.

Thousands of hours of observing what worked in practice led to Solution Focused Brief Therapy. By focusing on finding solutions and making incremental improvements towards where you would like to be - happy, stable, secure, resolved, authentic and in control, or perhaps more specifically, in a steady relationship, running your business or in a different career - you envisage and create positive outcomes. The key is to gently shift your mindset away from repetitively focusing on problems.

SFBT focuses on Best Hopes and creating a Preferred Future.

David Newtown of Clifton Hypnotherapy Practice Training combined SFBT with Hypnotherapy to create Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, an incredibly powerful process for personal change.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming

Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP is a synthesis of cognitive and behavioural philosophies which focus on information coming in through our neurology and the programmes we run in our heads that create our behaviours. Using language, visualisation techniques and simple structured techniques, I help clients 'rewire' neural pathways to resolve negative states, anxiety and phobias, and to determine and achieve goals.

NLP uses the ability of the mind to  experience imaginative scenarios as real, which alters automatic negative responses and reprogrammes your subconscious for a healthier, more balanced and successful life.

Time Line Therapy™

Time Line™ Therapy was developed to help people rid themselves of negatives states and emotional baggage using their own internal time line.

I guide you to elicit a time line where your past, present and future are mapped within your subconscious. Time Line™ Therapy helps you heal emotional traumas, and to eliminate unwanted thoughts, emotions and behaviours quickly. It is very effective at unblocking and resolving unwanted emotions such as anger, rejection, fear and sadness which often feel out of proportion and out of your control to current events. There is no need to disclose or re-experience negative emotions by discussing these in therapy.

This therapy is most effective when strong emotions such as anger, sadness and fear seem to be triggered easily and frequently. Time Line Therapy often resolves early traumas and negative experiences even in one session, bringing relief and peace, often in just one session.

It is not, however, suitable for complex ptsd.

Can everyone be hypnotised?

Most, but not all people can be hypnotised. Some access the trance state easily while others become deeply relaxed and receptive but don’t report being in trance. This doesn’t mean I can’t help but it may affect the number of sessions, the techniques I use and the time it takes to create the change you want.
