Maria’s Journey to a Better Life

Maria L was one client who accelerate her goals, and began to work towards realising her dreams through Solution Focused Coaching.

Recommended by an existing client, Maria contacted me for Rewind Trauma Therapy in July 2021 to resolve past traumas that were holding her back and causing her so much unhappiness.

Rewind Trauma Therapy to Process the Past

Maria explained, “I felt a huge shift after [my Rewind Trauma Therapy session] with Jane and a glimpse of hope and motivation I hadn't felt for a long time. I decided to continue coaching with Jane going forward.”

During the initial consultation, Maria seemed low, anxious, and unsatisfied with the direction of her life. However, Maria had responded quickly to Rewind Trauma Therapy.

Deeply embedded trauma that had impacted her daily life for so long, was quickly resolved. Maria was now free to re-imagine her future.

But where to begin?

The key was to ensure that the choices Maria made were aligned with her values and beliefs. Through the Sense-Ability Solution Focused process, Jane asked key Solution Focused open-ended questions to draw out Maria’s innermost motivations, aspirations and hopes, as well as identifying the limiting beliefs that she wanted to resolve.

“Jane is unbiased and has the expertise and tools to help you up level your life! If you are stuck or need a bigger life overhaul and want to accelerate reaching your goals like I did, I suggest you pick up that phone and contact Jane right now.”
— Maria L, Coaching Client

Maria explains: “I had moved more times than I cared to remember, been existing, living the city rat race and lost my sense of self. Speaking with Jane, I assessed my current situation on a scale from 1 to 1. Jane asked me what steps I would need to take for it to be a higher number. [Through Jane’s Solution Focused questions] I was able to develop] a plan of action. With Jane as my accountability partner I knew I could can achieve my goalsl.”

Measuring Progress

When Maria is referring to scaling, this is a core element of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. We choose a scale, often happiness or fulfilment, e.g. where 0 is not happy, and 10 is happy. I then ask Maria: “If a miracle happened, and you woke up in the morning and had moved one number along your scale, what would show you that you had moved forward?” When Maria answers, she is using her right brain to come up with new possibilities and solutions, as if they had already happened. Through the conversation, Maria also naturallly determines her next steps to help her move forward quite naturally. It feels as If I have helped her create a plan; in reality she has found her own solutions.

A natural, organic pathway to growth

The Sense-Ability Solution Focused process is an organic, natural process.

As Maria answers Solution Focused questions and describes what she wants, she elicits emotions linked to that better picture, e.g. feeling stable, content, free and happy. Maria creates a strong emotional motivation to move towards this wonderful vision. All her decisions naturally take her towards this vision. The process generates hope and increases motivation. In time, the process forges new neural connections that reinforce positive thoughts, actions and reactions; all of which steadily move Maria forward towards her hopeful vision.

Best Hopes

Maria explained just how the Sense-Ability process has helped her: “Having these sessions provides me with deadlines. I want my tasks, or best hopes as Jane calls them, completed before our sessions. Like a painting that needed a good dusting off my path has been uncovered.”

In Solution Focused Coaching, we call hoped for outcomes Best Hopes, rather than goals or tasks, because we are not determining goals that ‘must’ be achieved. Rather we are painting a clear picture of what is wanted and the unconscious mind, and natural personality of the client, does the rest. As Maria is a disciplined, logical person, she naturally formulated her Best Hopes into tasks or goals which helped to motivate her further. The important things is that her goals and tasks are aligned with her values and beliefs, and organically help her move towards a wonderful and authentic vision of here future.

Creating a Better Life

Maria is now on her way to creating the life she wants: a life of freedom, travel, and flexible working arrangements. She continues to meet Jane every three months to help her think through her next aspirations, hopes and goals.

Maria delivered a wonderful endorsement, saying: “Jane is unbiased and has the expertise and tools to help you up level your life! If you are stuck or need a bigger life overhaul and want to accelerate reaching your goals like I did, I suggest you pick up that phone and contact Jane right now.”

She added, “The only regret you will have is not taking this time for yourself earlier.”
